Unpacking the Conspiracy Surrounding the Annabelle Doll & Dan Rivera’s Death | E! News

Here’s everything you need to know about the allegedly haunted Annabelle doll and recent death of Dan Rivera. Dan was a paranormal researcher and passed away while traveling with the supposedly haunted doll Annabelle. And his death has the internet divided over conspiracies. According to USA Today, authorities were called to Dan Rivera’s Pennsylvania hotel on July 13th where he was receiving CPR treatment. The 54year-old was overseeing a tour with the Raggedyan doll. However, the coroner in charge of Rivera’s case, Francis Dutro, tells CNN on July 17th that the doll was not present in the room where Rivera was found dead. A July 16th Pennsylvania State Police report lists the nature of Dan’s death as natural and the police share on X that nothing unusual or suspicious was observed at the scene. Details about Dan’s cause of death have not been shared. Ghost Hunter star Jason Haw does not believe emerging conspiracies that Rivera’s death is somehow linked to Annabelle. writing in a July 16th Facebook post, quote, “Dan Rivera was an Army veteran, a father of four, a husband, and someone who truly cared about people. What’s even harder to see right now are the posts blaming his death on things like the Annabel doll. The doll is a well-known relic among the paranormal community, an inspiration for the Conjuring film franchise. The horror series is based on the work of the late supernatural investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren. In the Conjuring movie franchise, Patrick Wilson and Vera Fariga play the Warren. The couple founded the New England Society for Psychic Research and investigated Paranormal Activity. The doll was given to the Warren in the 1970s by a nursing student who believed that it had been possessed by a dead six-year-old named Annabelle. The Warren claimed the doll was demonically possessed with a spirit looking to transfer to a human host. Annabelle was put on display in the Warren Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. And the couple claims that two separate visitors who insulted the doll both had serious motor vehicle accidents that day. Annabelle remained in her enclosure until the museum closed in 2019.
