The Prince and Princess of Wales have marked Prince George’s 12th birthday by sharing a new photo of him. The photograph has been shared by the official Kensington Palace social media accounts.

The new post was accompanied by a caption which said: “Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George”, alongside a chocolate cake emoji. Photographer Josh Sinner took the photo earlier this year in Norfolk. George is the eldest of William and Kate’s three children. He was born on July 22, 2013 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

Prince George was famously introduced to the world while being cradled in his mum Kate’s arms, hours later. Kate spoke about the importance of family in a video message shared on September 9, announcing that she had completed chemotherapy for cancer.

She said: “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

The prince is currently second in line to the British throne, behind his dad Prince William, the Prince of Wales. The family were recently seen enjoying proceedings at Wimbledon.

In contrast to his younger siblings, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, 7, George appeared serious throughout his appearance at the prestigious sporting event. Kate presented the Wimbledon men’s trophy to Jannik Sinner.

After the Wimbledon appearance, the Prince and Princess posted: “A pleasure to be back in SW19 for the finals of this year’s @wimbledon Championships this weekend.

“Congratulations again to @iga.swiatek and @janniksin on your wins! And a huge thank you to everybody involved in making the tournament so special.”

After becoming the first Italian to win a Wimbledon singles title, Sinner met the royals and signed tennis balls for George and Charlotte. Many fans of the Royal Family have taken to the comments of the latest social media post for George’s birthday.

Sophia wrote: “Happy Birthday Prince George! He looks like his dad so much” and another comment said “Already 12 years old, the time flies. With 12 years old, he is already so handsome.”

Marella commented: “Happy Birthday! Where is time going? 12? Our kids are growing way too fast!” A further response was “A real mix of Kate and William – lovely boy.”

A great-grandchild to the Queen, George will be the 43rd monarch since William the Conqueror had the crown of England if, as expected, he follows the reigns of his grandfather, the Prince of Wales, and then his dad, William.
