“Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money.” – Native American Proverb

Have we forgotten, that human survival depends on more than a number on the thermostat?

What is the appeal to razing green, natural areas to the ground? I’m not outdoorsy by any stretch of the imagination but it’s so evil and gross to just take what nature put there and make it something with no space for the natural beauty of the planet. Those trees, shrubs, bushes are also there to serve a purpose, they protect the ecosystem and maintain the land. Just look at Florida, developers have torn the mangroves apart to build and now streets flood when it rains too hard. Nature is there to protect us and itself. This is just beyond gross and nasty.

Yeah, wealthy and famous people need to get out of Hawaii and stop ruining it. It’s a beautiful place, and it needs to keep being that way.

    4. Serious question: why doesn’t Hawaii make a law to stop this? Billionaires are taking over entire islands and stealing land. Look at what Zuckerberg is doing

Got rich folks moving into the deep country where I live.
Clearing out several acres for a gaudy mansion that after a one hard winter where without a 4×4 they can’t leave their home and have no power they move and sell it to another rich guy who carves off more land to fit his country cosplay.

Just to be clear, Hawaii was forcefully annexed. Hawaiians did not agree to become part of the United States.

Manifest destiny has made a comeback. These people buy land just because they can. Just wait til she opens up a bunch of Airbnbs on the property. Everyone else seems to be buying land like crazy in beautiful places just to open up vacation rentals on them and get rich. It’s horrible and these people have zero shame and zero concern for locals or indigenous peoples. They think the world exists for good instagram shots.

    8. Why all the sudden do something with it after 15 years? Ugh. Also when she said: “Guess we don’t care about indigenous people then. Guess we don’t care about the environment anymore then.” Unfortunately rich people do not, at all. It’s so depressing the way the world is going.
