The suspect in the killing has been identified as Yinon Levi, an Israeli settler who was sanctioned by the UK and EU last year. Local media reports that he was released under house arrest on Tuesday.

    1. Killing Palestinians is basically legal in Israel and the occupied territories. Maybe not technically, but it’s rarely punished at all. In fact, murderers are often hailed as heroes by fellow settlers.

[Israeli soldiers stormed the mourning tent in his village](https://x.com/infinite__jaz/status/1950223880498393528) and kicked out all the journalists (and others). After seeing what they did at [Shireen Abu Akhleh’s funeral procession](https://x.com/RamyYaacoub/status/1721597846338650596), I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. The worst part is that the murderer Yinon Levi will almost certainly return to the village, armed and backed by other psychotic settlers, the police, and the army, to continue terrorizing, mocking, and attacking the remaining members of Odeh Hathalin’s family. There really is no such thing as justice when it comes to Israel.

He’ll be out in a few months if he ends up doing any time at all, meanwhile Palestinians as young as 12 are given military trials and held in torture dungeons for throwing stones at these squatters. That’s what apartheid means for the next person who snaps a picture of a random hijabi in Tel Aviv and is confused.

This is horrific… and also another perfect example of how the West’s performative sanctions on individual settlers mean nothing. And they’ll be no justice because the US will keep supporting Israel’s violent expansion/ethnic clensing/genocide with full bipartisan support….
