    After numerous close shaves and extra time left the teams at 1-1, it was down to penalties. Princess Charlotte could be seen covering her face during the action, while Prince William could hardly bring himself to watch.

    After Prince William shook hands with all the players from both teams during the medal ceremony, it was time for the Lionesses to take to the podium and lift the trophy in victory. Prince William and Princess Charlotte were cosied up on the pitch to witness the special moment together.

    After the match, Prince William shared a compilation video of the evening’s action and wrote a message to England’s victorious team. He described it as an ‘incredible night for the Lionesses’ and shouted out the team’s head coach and wider staff, saying, ‘Congratulations to Sarina, the team and all the support staff.’ He finished the post with one word: ‘Champions! 🏆’
