Conor McGregor has lost his appeal against a High Court jury's finding that he raped Nikita Hand.
Ms Hand sued Mr McGregor for damages for raping her on 9 December 2018 at a hotel in Dublin.
The jury at the civil trial found that Mr McGregor had raped Ms Hand and awarded her almost €250,000 in damages.
Mr McGregor had intended to introduce fresh evidence into his appeal to give an alternative explanation for the bruises suffered by Ms Hand but withdrew his application as the case began.
The court has said it intends to refer this matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court based its ruling on Mr McGregor’s remaining grounds of appeal – that his garda interviews should not have been admitted into evidence and that the issue paper given to the jury should have specified sexual assault and not simply an “assault”.
The court is now delivering its ruling in relation to the High Court’s refusal to grant costs to Mr McGregor’s friend, James Lawrence.

I’m not Irish so I don’t know how serious the buzz is about him running for political office, but I hope and trust that the majority of Ireland has the sense to tell this adjudicated rapist to fuck off. Don’t be like us in the USA

Does this mean this will potentially be tried in criminal court? Would be odd if it was only tried in civil court as I assume rape is a criminal offense. But I’m totally ignorant about Irish law and just law in general really so idk.

Failed appeal for Lawrence too – must be such a relief for Nikita
I love this for him. Reading what happened to her was horrific I’m baffled why he’s not in jail but anything to allow her peace is what she deserves. I can’t say what I think Conner deserves without loosing my act but karma is real.
