Martha Stewart has had some mixed feelings when it comes to Meghan Markle entering the lifestyle and home space.
Stewart shared her thoughts on Markle launching As Ever, her new lifestyle brand, in April 2025.
“Authenticity matters a lot,” Stewart told Us Weekly in September 2024. “Does Meghan Markle really design her products? Has she used those products? Can she speak nicely about her own products? That’s all she has to do. And she’s extremely well known. Extremely famous, and I’m anxious to see what she comes up with.”
In addition to As Ever, Markle debuted her latest Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, which shows her passion for cooking, crafting and entertaining with celebrity guests such as Mindy Kaling and Alice Waters.

Following Markle’s As Ever product launch and TV series, Stewart responded by saying she doesn’t “really know” Markle “very well” and hopes “she knows what she’s talking about.”

‘Anxious’ to See What She Comes Up With

In a September 2024 interview with Us, Stewart discussed Markle’s move into the lifestyle space, noting that “authenticity matters a lot.”
“Does Meghan Markle really design her products? Has she used those products? Can she speak nicely about her own products?” Stewart said, noting that “that’s all she has to do” to be successful. “And she’s extremely well known. Extremely famous, and I’m anxious to see what she comes up with.”
‘Curious’ to See Her Netflix Show
After the release of Markle’s solo Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, Stewart was asked if she had seen it yet — which she had not.
“I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ll watch an episode and see how she does!” Stewart told Access Hollywood in May 2025. “I’m curious.”

Addressing Allegations That Markle Copied Her Pasta Recipe

After people pointed out that Markle had a “similar” one-pot pasta recipe to Stewart that she featured on With Love, Meghan, Stewart promptly shut down any comment.
“No, I’m not going there,” Stewart said at an In Conversation event in Sydney, Australia, in May 2025, per the Daily Mail UK.

“Meghan I don’t know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about,” Stewart told Yahoo Lifestyle. “Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.”
While Stewart didn’t dive deeper into anything related to Markle, she did praise Gwyneth Paltrow, who founded Goop.
“Gwyneth has been very successful; she created quite an interesting body of businesses,” she shared, adding that she admires Paltrow. “She won an Oscar, for heaven’s sake, as an actress! She’s pretty powerful.”
