Ethan Chapin’s Mom Shares Heartbreaking Message After Idaho Case | E! News
Stacy Chapen is sharing the range of emotions she’s feeling after the killer in the University of Idaho murders was sent to prison. The mom of Ethan Chapen, who was fatally stabbed in November 2022 alongside Kaylee Gonzalez, Madison Mogan, and Zana Kernert, was absent from the July 23rd sentencing when Brian Coberger, was sentenced to life in prison. Skipping the trial was a choice she and her family made over 2 years ago when Stacy told today that attending is energy that doesn’t feel like it’s well spent. However, now that the case has concluded, she’s speaking out, reflecting on the last few years. She wrote on Instagram July 31st, “We’ve given a lot of thought to what we should say since 7:23 and have edited this a million times. The entire situation has been a tough pill to swallow, but at the end of the day, we believe the outcome is the right one.” She also penned a message directly to Ethan, sharing a heartbreaking tribute to her son taken far too soon. She wrote, “Thank you, Ethan. You were only with us for 20 years, but you touched the lives of so many people. From the time you were a baby to when we dropped you off at college, you were an absolute joy and the glue that held our family together. Stacy, who also acknowledged that her and Jim Chapen’s children, Maisie and Hunter, graduated this past May without their triplet brother, continued, “We remember your smile, your laugh, how you kept us in check, and the many ways you brought happiness and light to any situation. There will never be another you. There would never have been enough time with you. we love you, miss you, and promise to continue honoring your legacy. She also thanked the community for their support in the aftermath of the murders, saying the Moscow Police Department, FBI, and more investigators worked tireously on this case, and spent time away from their loved ones. The matriarch went on to share her gratitude for the University of Idaho, as well as prosecutors, who, she said, openly communicated with transparency, answered every call and email, and were fantastic throughout this process. What were his motives? It's seems so random?
Learn how to say Xanas last name or don't say anything at all.
Ethan Chapin was everything BK dreamed of being. RIP. 🙏🕊
Poor young college guy 😮😢
Aww he was a triplet. That’s tough 😢
When she said “only 20 years” it broke me 😢
Stacy’s words for Ethan are so beautifully heartfelt.
My heart aches for all the families 😢
So senseless these kids didn’t deserve this 😢😢😢
My heart breaks for all the victims and they're family. 💔. My God help ease your pain. 😢
Maybe his other brother & sister will take on some of the things Ethan use to do as keeping everyone in check, being the glue of the family after they have fully grieved.
Its all so heartbreaking. thoughts and prayers for the families and friends. God bless you all.
❤
So sad he was so drunk he couldn’t protect his girlfriend Xana
So freaking sad
I’m confused this family says they we’re great full for the transparency and the job the police and prosecutors did and that they kept thier family informed and answered every phone call. But the gonzales whole family has been on every media site and platform over and over and over again saying the exact opposite about everything. This is the second family that has had nice things to say and I’m wondering how can it be so different for the other families situation? I am so sorry for your loss and I hope your family can find peace and a way to move on in the future but I also hope the gonzales family can do the same .
Ethan was in on it 1000%
Oh he also was a triplet 😢 so happy the siblings graduated! ❤
