Chris Smalls, Amazon Labor Union Founder & volunteer aboard the Handala Freedom Flotilla has arrived back home. He was the only known crew member that was brutally assaulted in captivity by the IOF after the crew was illegally kidnapped by Israel for trying to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.

His relentless, unwavering support of Palestinians and labor unions should be appreciated and studied by upcoming and current democratic leaders, but he goes largely ignored. I WONDER WHY.

This is a great example why any politician complicit in Israel’s genocide or their funding with our tax dollars needs to be rather explicitly called out for supporting racism. Israel is not just a genocidal ethnostate, but a very racist one at that, as most settler-colonial movements tend to be.
I am so thankful that Chris is okay, but sadly this is exactly what I was afraid of, knowing Israel’s history and how they’ve always treated Black and brown people.
Chris has more courage than anyone in office today.

In addition to being singled out and attacked for being a labor leader, I have no doubt he was singled out for being black as well.
The Israeli government has a long history with racism and racial violence.
