How Eddie Murphy Feels About Son Marrying Martin Lawrence’s Daughter | E! News

Lots of congratulations in order. Congratulations on this film. First of all, Pete was just telling me that he really felt like he got to bond with you once he got into the truck. He was a huge fan of yours, but he finally sort of got to tell you how he felt and how inspired he was by you. So, sir, what sort of kinship did you find with him? Well, there was already a kinship because we have so much in common. We both are comics. We both uh started doing comedy really young. Both got on Saturday Night Live really young. We both lost our dads really young, so we had a a lot of stuff in common. So when we got in the truck together, it just clicked. We had all of this chemistry. There was no way there wasn’t going to be bonding. We literally was in this little space for, you know, 3 months. That’s the way to bond for sure. When you get back into the action comedy space, does it feel like home? I’m real familiar with it. you know, having having pioneered the genre. You know, the very first action comedy is 48 hours and the second one is Beverly Hills Cops. You know, before those two movies, the cops were really hard ass, you know, go ahead make my day. Hard ass, hard-nosed cops. Then after Beverly Hills Cops in 48 hours, that’s when all the cops started, you know, hasta la vista baby and yippi cay m all that stuff happened after Beverly Hills cop in 48 hours. really really started the whole genre. So, more congratulations. You have a new member in your family. Congratulations. You new daughter-in-law. How have you welcomed her in the family? I know they had a very small wedding. Did you have a party yet? How have you brought her in? They were together for, you know, a couple years. So, she’d already kind of been in the family and there hasn’t been a party. We They were going to have a big wedding and they went off and did a little thing. I really like. Are you the grandpa that’s you’re like, “All right, what are you having in kids now that you’re married or you just sort of let them do their thing?” I’m letting them do their thing. You’re already a grandpa. Maybe for the first one you probably No, I’m never pushing them. I’m always, you know, like it’s a beautiful blessing. Whenever it happens, it happens. Well, I didn’t know that. So, you’re working on Shrek five. We’re about to work. We’re about to start working on uh No, no. Dunkey. Dunkey is a spin-off. Literally doing Dunkey and starting that in September. And we’re about to start uh George Clinton following Funkadelic George Clinton story. What can you tease about Shrek? This is going to be very funny. I don’t even know the whole They don’t give you a script when you do Shrek. You get the scenes that you’re going to record the day you do this and you go and you don’t know from session to session what you’re doing. So, and you just announced this spin-off. So, how excited are you? I’m pretty excited. I’m excited. I got a bunch of stuff that I’m getting ready to do. It’s pretty exciting. Are you going to beat Puss and Boots? Is it going to be better than Let me tell you something about Well, better, but it’s going to be really funny. I know I’m I don’t know if I’m better than Antonio Banderas, but I’m funnier.
