Idaho Murders: How Bryan Kohberger’s Mom, Sister Reacted in Court | E! News

How Brian Cobberger’s family reacted to his sentencing in court. The criminology students mom, Maryanne Cobberger, and sister, Amanda Coberger, made appearances in court on July 23rd when Brian received four consecutive life sentences for the 2022 murders of college students Kaylee Gonzalez, Madison Mogan, Xander Kernodal, and Ethan Chapen. According to the New York Times, who had a reporter inside the room, the women had emotional reactions to the proceedings with Maryanne seen shuddering at times and in one instance putting her head in her hands. However, Brian ignored his family as he was escorted out of the room following his sentencing per the outlet, only acknowledging their presence when court returned from a recess. At that point, the 30-year-old smiled and nodded at his mother. During the proceedings, Kaylee Gonzalez’s sister, Olivia, gave a scathing victim impact statement, speaking directly to Brian Cobberger. How does it feel to know the only thing you failed more miserably at than being a murderer is trying to be a rapper? Did you recently start shaving or manually pulling out your eyebrows? Did you truly think your Amazon purchase was untraceable because you used a gift card? If you were really smart, do you think you’d be here right now? What’s it like needing this much attention just to feel real? You’re terrified of being ordinary, aren’t you? Earlier this month, Brian pleaded guilty to killing all four of the University of Idaho students, admitting that he acted deliberately and with premeditation. However, he did not provide a motive, leaving his reason for committing the crimes unclear. Following his confession, his family spoke out on the trial to ask the media for privacy, respect, and responsible judgment during this time. They said in a release shared from the family’s Pennsylvania based legal representation, “We will continue to allow the legal process to unfold with respect to all parties and will not release any comments or take any questions. We ask that you respect our wishes during a difficult time for all those affected. [Music]

    1. He ruined everyone’s lives. I hope his family are left alone and are not harassed. THEY did not perpetrated ANY crimes. It is likely you will BTK’s daughter . . . Perhaps in time, when they are not suffering death threats, they will cooperate with their input about him and how they feel, which has to be as bad as each of the 4 other families.

    2. As a sister I would not have shown up in court unless I believed he was innocent. Maybe they still think that way! No killed deserves emotional support!

    3. People come on ! No need to latch out at his family because of the choices BK made ! And even going by his sisters looks ! My word it is a family and theres resemblance in everyone’s family’s and to pick this out on his sisters looks that has nothing to do with him. That’s in sane. BK will one day face his judgment. It in Gods hands now. I just pray all the families can heal now.

    4. Same evil eyes on the sister and I have to wonder at the choice of wearing a red dress to court.

If that were me, there’s no way I would go to court. I would never support that monster.

    5. I feel bad for his sister. Not only does she come from the same gene pool as the murderer but she also looks like him. Her potential dates must be running in the other direction.

    6. The sister, shown exiting the courthouse, looks like she has a smirk on her face?! Maybe she's not aware of it. She looks like she doesn't have a care in the world. He looks worse and worse. Every time you see him, – paler & scarier looking

    7. His sister looks exactly like her brother. They both have these staring eyes. His parents completly failed in life with raising a murderer.
