There’s no scientific evidence that eating the placenta has any health benefits. It can actually be dangerous due to bacteria and viruses, so stop doing it!

Can I ask why you decided to include photos of the placenta, why you’d think people would want to see that?

Omg. Wild animals eat the placenta, so predators dont know there’s a brand new baby and recovering mom out there. That’s it. No secret health benefits. Can we stop with this shit already?

      women’s bodies are amazing!

im not grossed out by the placenta but the air-drying and consuming it part is…. 😭
And isn’t this a form of cannibalism?

    5. I hope to god they had a nurse or midwife there. Literally anything could have gone wrong mid or post birth. It’s dangerous to give birth without any medical staff present. Relying solely on “primal wisdom” is so stupid.

    6. There is more pictures of the placenta and the intent to eat it than the bb. Weird.

    7. I’m gonna say I hate the phrase “primal wisdom.”

Birth is beautiful yada yada but like also the most common thing in the world. Everyone’s been born. Reducing women to mystic wombs is some shit I’m not on, even if said with the best intentions.

    8. we gotta draw the line between celebrating bodies and bodily functions and motherhood and the nonsense that we as strangers just don’t need to see. why is no moment private anymore 😂

    9. I HATE this placenta eating trend. It is such a silly thing to do and totally unnecessary. People will do this but won’t get a vaccine, make it make sense.

I didn’t get to see my placenta so I’m happy to know this is what it looked like lol

Primal wisdom is arrogant because you essentially got lucky that baby wasn’t breech or otherwise malpositioned and everything went right.

Don’t call me a primal dumbass because my babies needed medical help to be born safely in hospital

Home birth, eating the placenta and calling her a superhero with primal wisdom? 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

My sister did the EXACT same thing. With the placenta. She still has the food dehydrator. It was so gross to see I almost screamed

    14. I can’t think of anything I’d want to do less than a home birth. I don’t understand how a candle and a pretty view helps with birthing. When I was in the midst of contractions, I was barely seeing/smelling anything.

mAaan i asked to see my placenta and they didn’t show me so I appreciate this lol

I follow his wife on my finsta and she mainly only posts about her parents, her coworkers at BBC1, and her chickens.

    17. The placenta is essentially a filter, protecting the baby from harmful chemicals/bacteria and infection that mom may have been exposed to. I imagine there are many more of those contaminants in modern times than there were in the past, and science has improved regarding any alleged positive impact. I know drs say no known benefit (other than placebo) but no harm in doing it, while others say don’t risk it. Ask ur dr! A picture of a placenta seems like an overshare, but not harmful: what’s concerning is the normalization of consuming it, ie pictures of chunks of placenta in a dehydrator.

I feel like the placenta eating started off as a troll, just like piss drinking and coffee enemas.
There is someone out there having a laugh at all of these people’s expense for falling for this shit.
