Nancy Meyers Blindsided by The Holiday Limited Series | E! News
Nancy Meyers reveals she was blindsided by the holiday limited series. Shortly after it was revealed that a limited series adaptation of her hit film, The Holiday is in the works at Apple TV Plus. The director shared that she was completely unaware of the new show. Myers posted to Instagram stories August 1st over a screenshot of an article about the series news to me. Imagine my surprise when I opened Instagram and this was the first post I saw. The 75-year-old, who wrote and directed The Holiday in 2006, added a thinking face emoji to her caption, but did not elaborate further. As previously reported, the Apple TV Plus series would follow a new set of characters who, similar to Kate Winslett and Cameron Diaz in the original film, swapped their homes for the holidays and likely find their own Jack Black and Jude Law. Myers was reported not involved in the adaptation as noted by the Hollywood Reporter with Rob Delaney coming on as a writer alongside Chrissy Ducker who will act as an executive producer. E-News has reached out to Apple TV Plus for comment but has not yet heard back. While Meyers may not be involved in the Apple TV Plus show, she has previously discussed the possibility of a sequel to the holiday, most recently during a reunion with Jude Law. she said to the actor in a December 12th Instagram video. I’ve seen you interviewed a lot and they keep asking you is there going to be a sequel. What do you think? Is there going to be a sequel? Uhoh. Uhoh. Oh no. Here it comes. Is that a yes? As the star had shared before, he would only be interested in a sequel if Meyers was involved. He told E!News in December. Of course, I would. I mean, we’d have to be led by the great Nancy Meyers. She’s unique in her film making. She’s not just a writer director, but she creates that sort of aesthetic, that world, and you see it in her other films. He added, I’m curious just because there were two very sweet couples, and it would be interesting to drop back in now and just see what they are doing. And of course, it would have to be set around the holidays to keep the magic of the first film alive. [Music]
