Meteorologist Nick Jansen Defends Texting His Wife During Live Broadcast | E! News
Weatherman Nick Jansen is clapping back at the criticism after the chief meteorologist at NBC’s Minnesota affiliate KTTC was caught texting on air. The broadcaster is responding to the backlash. While tracking severe weather in the Midwestern state July 28th, Nick was seen on his phone going on to provide this explanation. All right, thanks Zach uh for that. Sorry, I just had to text my wife. baby was sleeping well tonight, so that’s that’s going to be over with at this point in time. However, shortly after the newscast, the seasoned weatherman responded to push back for him being preoccupied on air. Writing in a July 30th Facebook post, “I don’t usually post things like this, but after nearly 3 hours of Storm coverage Monday night, I wanted to share a quick thought. I received an email telling me how unprofessional I was during my coverage.” going on to defend his actions, saying, “I take my job and your safety very seriously, but I’m also a husband and a father.” In the middle of severe weather, I decided to take a brief moment to make sure my wife and child were safely in the basement. That’s not me being unprofessional, it’s me being human. I am a husband and a father first.” Nick’s post was quickly flooded by comments supporting the 32-year-old’s decision to put his family, which includes wife Angie and their five-month-old daughter Jaime, ahead of his job, prompting the meteorologist to share a follow-up post August 3rd, writing, “Thank you for all the love and support over the past few days. Your kindness and encouragement have been a powerful reminder of why I do what I do. [Music]

I agree let this guy be β€
Knock knock
Bo**::Who is it?
God is are you blind?
This is non news. Why did this even hit the main stream? Not even a slow news day would pick this story up π
Wife? I think you meant to say husband!!!
I absolutely agree with him!! He did nothing wrong.
We should be grateful he is a kind and loving father…..family first right?
His job came down on him, no one else caresβ¦ Iβm sure he didnβt receive a random email from a viewer and if he did, serves him right. Your job is your job. It has nothing to do with your duties of being a husband and father. Youβre on the clock, young man.
Youβre not doing anyone in Minnesota any favors, youβre getting paid to render a service. The nerve of people today. π
Yay Nick ππππ€£πͺπ―ππππ₯³ππππ€£πͺπ―
We need more people like him!!!!!!!
Unprofessional and unacceptable. He gets breaks and could check his phone then.
I disagree with his explanation, he was live on air, he could have waited one minute before responding. I think this is a publicity stunt or something else. Think of 911, wars etc no other news reporter or presenter has ever done this mid report.
seriously someone complained about him texting his wife to make sure she and their child were safe? Who cares, I would have done the same thing and whoever complained I hope you see this comment…π you and he shouldn't have to explain himself to anyone about why he did what he did…people need to get a life.
Good husband and father!
Working three hours without taking a toilet break?
Lol
