She made Viola and Lupita look like they’re living in the confederate south in 1817!! That’s so bad, I know her work has its own style, but thank god shes not the only photographer!

    2. THANK YOU.

I have never understood the hubbub around Annie Liebowitz. All her photographs are exceedingly ordinary AT BEST, actively bad most of the time. And this is a perfect example of her ineptitude and racism.

She literally strips them of their beauty and luminosity in a way that feels so intentional

    4. Holy crap yeah Annie Liebovitz making some real choices there…whether it’s just horrific incompetence or straight up racism doesn’t even really matter tbh 😬

I am glad someone else is pointing out the freaking obvious. All of her photographs suffer from bad lighting, no fill, just always raw and ugly. Like looking at yourself in the car mirror. That shit ain’t pretty.

    6. Your photo by a famous professional photographer shouldn’t look like I just caught you on my nokia in our dorm room in 2003. She’s doing the same play with light and shadow with no consideration of her subject.

I didn’t know her by name before and wish I could remove her name from my brain

Everyone’s talking about the Simone Biles photo, but the Coco Gauff one is also GHASTLY!

EVERYONE deserves the royal look in their photos.

I wonder if there are photography teachers out there who take lighting as seriously as this, I’d love to learn. The good pics look fantastic!

it’s messed up because she intentionally makes black women look as rough as possible and Vogue kept letting her do it…
