It’s been alleged that Prince William felt so torn about his brother’s impending wedding that he “sought assurances” from his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Many within the Royal Family reportedly believed that Prince Harry was rushing into marriage with Meghan Markle after just two years of dating, with worries about how quickly their romance had progressed.
These brewing anxieties allegedly prompted William to approach his grandmother for a special and meaningful promise.
According to author Robert Jobson in Catherine’s memoir, The Princess of Wales: The Biography, the siblings’ bond rapidly deteriorated ahead of the 2018 ceremony.

“By the time William was confirmed as best man, the relationship had worsened,” he alleged in the book, reports the Express.
“I have been told that, still concerned about the match, he’d sought assurances from the Queen that Harry’s bride would not be wearing any of Princess Diana’s jewelry, even though his own wife was allowed to wear it.
“Despite sharp digs and thin skins on both sides, the wedding at Windsor in May 2018 was a spectacular success. In public, the Royal Family were all smiles, though privately they were at daggers drawn.”
The siblings have reportedly remained silent since their grandmother’s funeral in 2022.
Prince Harry alleges William had “screamed” at him in front of the Queen over the Duke’s choice to abandon the UK and build a fresh life with Meghan in the US in January 2022. The once-tight bond between the brothers has now completely crumbled and is reportedly nonexistent due to accusations made by the Duke in his tell-all book, Spare.
In the memoir, Harry alleges that William seized him by the collar and then hurled him to the ground in 2019 during a heated exchange about Meghan.
Princess Kate and Meghan Markle’s relationship rapidly turned sour as well, Prince Harry asserted.
The sisters-in-law supposedly started clashing in the lead-up to the nuptials. The dispute centered around Meghan’s selection of flower girls’ dresses, with Princess Kate purportedly being reduced to tears.
Nevertheless, Meghan maintained in a 2021 interview with Oprah that Kate had caused her to weep prior to her marriage to Prince Harry.
When questioned if Harry still communicates with his brother during a 2023 interview with Anderson Cooper on CBS News’ 60 Minutes program, Harry responded: “Currently, no. But I look forward to… I look forward to us being able to find peace.”
