i’m sad for her son that his death has been made into a spectacle and that most of his short life was for public consumption

i don’t know how their marriage withstands this honestly. how do you stay with a man who you can’t even be trusted with something as basic as watching his child? and then he lies to the police about it? i couldn’t even look at him again

    2. The fact that their dog noticed their child drowning in the pool before he did tells me everything I need to know about how much attention he was paying to his child. He didn’t even go looking for the boy after realizing he hadn’t seen him for more than 9 minutes, when he had left him alone, outside, by the pool. He noticed the dog staring into the pool while looking out the window, thought that was unusual, and went to go see what was going on. Add in the fact that they had no pool fence? He absolutely should have been charged.

    3. I tried to stay away from this case because I think it’s not only devastating but turning into a bit of a spectacle but I won’t lie I was curious what the reason was for police wanting him to be charged and the details are just horrendous. For me the most shocking part is how he kept lying and lying. I don’t know if he was even trying to convince the police, or more his wife. In any case it’s shocking how she didn’t even arrive at her destination that was near their home before the tragedy unfolded. Everything with the poor kid transpired in more or less 20 minutes after she left the house. He really couldn’t watch the kiddos for even half an hour before he got fed up and switched to basketball.

And yes, I can’t help but think if the mom was a cashier and the dad was a janitor he wouldn’t have been given the grace (legal or other) that losing his son is enough to deal with.

Morally he should have been charged however the practical part of my brain sees why he wasn’t. The DA only has so many resources and can’t prosecute every case. They have to evaluate can this case reach the highest burden of proof, and this case has enough to it that a good defense attorney could turn into reasonable doubt.

The details of this case have been haunting me. That poor baby treaded water for 2 minutes while his dad was yards away. Sickening.

    6. ” yo, I’m sorry I let our kid drown but I had a hot tip and had to get my bet down”

    7. Children/toddler drowning in pool makes me so mad. As a teen, I babysat a girl that age and they had a pool deck leading to the house with only a flimsy barrier. My parents had told me that those are dangerous and kids can climb over easily in few seconds. I would watch the kid like an hawk and would not let her play outside without eyes on her.

    8. My heart is crying for the poor boy whose father chose to lie about not being there when that boy was in his scariest moment.

    9. As a parent in Arizona, you ALWAYS have a pool fence in any home where a baby/child lives or spends more than 5 minutes.

It’s WILD to me and every other AZ parent I know that they thought occasionally using a net was ok. At the very least, they should have had the net ON 100 percent of the time they weren’t actively using or supervising the pool.

I’m incredibly sad for them and incredibly pissed they thought they somehow didn’t need a pool fence.

No parent can watch their child every second. You have to cook, answer the door, a text, use the bathroom. That’s why you have to childproof your home as much as possible!!!

      /end rant

    10. A man will ruin your life and everything you’ve built in 20 short minutes. Take heed !

    11. Has she said anything since then? I don’t know who these people are but, I mean, does anyone think there’s a tiny possibility this was murder? Idk at this point in the timeline, I believe influencers will do anything for more followers and likes. Her last tiktok was posted on May 12th too. Literally the day of the accident. Idk guys, something feels off.

I’m not one to parent shame especially because I don’t have kids myself but what the fuck was he doing for 7 plus minutes that his child was unattended near a pool for that long. How sad for her as a postpartum grieving mother to be going through that

    13. I had a really good friend of mine whose daughter drowned in a pool because of an irresponsible babysitter. I guess she was too busy on Instagram and tik Tok. Absolutely trash.

    14. A man cannot keep eyes on a TODDLER for nearly 10 mins, let’s him roam around outside with an unfenced pool, but sure, it’s her fault. It’s always somehow her fault

      >An exact description of the CCTV footage has been redacted from the report after Emilie filed a lawsuit asking for its removal, to prevent people from making “disturbing” content surrounding their son’s death with AI.

Jesus fucking Christ. Everything I just read is awful, and this ending just made it worse
