Singer Spencer Hatcher’s Mom Stabbed to Death During Home Invasion | E! News

There’s no way for you to know the trauma and the pain. Spencer Hatcher is grieving an unfathomable loss. The country singer’s mother, Holly Hatcher, was killed August 3rd by an armed intruder during a home invasion in Virginia. The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office confirms in a joint statement with the Hatcher family posted to Facebook. The intruder, later identified by police as 41-year-old Kevin Walker, entered the home and fatally stabbed Holly, a local school teacher, before attacking her husband, Michael Hatcher. During the altercation, 65-year-old Michael was able to retrieve a handgun from his car and fire a single shot at Walker, killing the attacker. When police responded to an emergency call and arrived at the scene, they discovered Michael suffering from visible injury that he sustained from the altercation. Wearing a bandage on his right forearm, he speaks in the video message. There’s no way for you to know the trauma and the pain and the unanswered questions that I have had, that my three sons, Dne, Spencer, and Connor, have had, Holly’s family has had, and my mom and my two sisters have had about this terrible tragedy. Each of you have made it much more bearable through your outpouring of love and your caring and your kindness and support to all of us and for that I thank you so much. Holly Hatcher was 62 years old. Authorities confirmed that no charges will be filed in the case due to the suspect’s death. E-News has reached out to Spencer’s rep for comment, but has not yet heard back. Following the tragedy, Spencer announced he would be postponing three planned concert dates while he deals with the family’s loss. He wrote in a post on Instagram August 5th, “I appreciate everyone that has lent their support to me and my loved ones. We ask that everyone please respect our family’s privacy at this time. [Music]
