Did Dolly know that Kelly had a tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband? I know you shouldn’t speak ill of the dead, especially if you have kids with them, but I expect Kelly’s grief to be a lot more scattered than someone who was in a happy relationship.

      >I think that you just have to be grateful for the years that you’ve had with someone

That’s easier to do when you’ve been with that person for 60 years and they had the privilege of passing away at the age of *82*. When it happens to a young person, it can be unbearable to try to move on. The time you had just wasn’t enough and will never *be* enough. You’ll always think of them in big moments, and in little ones, always acutely aware of what they are missing and how much you miss them.

And that says nothing for the way a person may feel following the death of someone they weren’t even on good terms with.

She shouldn’t have even been asked this, what is a person supposed to say?

I appreciate what she said, as I appreciate what others are saying; grief and loss are so variable. I understand the slight connection but at the end of the day comparingDolly’s loss of Carl to Kelly and Reba’s loss of Brandon seem so different.. why was Dolly even asked this question when then situations are so polar opposite?
