Why was now the right time to share a scripted story? Back when I first approached doing this series, it was right after the birth of my daughter. I was very aware of how I didn’t want this like dark cloud hovering over me my entire adult life. I didn’t want to pass that on to her. I felt a deep sense of urgency to find closure, to make sense of it, and to reclaim a sense of agency and not just be the girl accused of murder. Do you feel like you have that sense of completion? It’s taken me nearly 20 years to arrive at a point where I feel like I feel free. I really do. I can’t go back and get back the the girl that I used to be, a girl who had never had anything bad happen to her. Like, I can’t go back to that person. But I can take this bad thing that happened to me and not just feel diminished by it, but actually propelled forward.
