Jeff Bezos’ Mom Jackie Bezos Dead at 78 | E! News

Jeff Bezos and his family are mourning a major loss. Just weeks after the Amazon founder tied the knot with Lauren Sanchez Bezos in Italy, the Bezos family foundation shares the news that Jeff’s mother, Jackie Bezos, died peacefully in her Miami home on August 14th. Her cause of death was listed as a 5-year battle with Louisbody dementia, a progressive brain disorder. The foundation describes her last years as a quiet final chapter to a life that taught all of us, friends and family alike, the true meaning of grit and determination, kindness, and service to others. Jeff also speaks out with a personal message honoring his mother, who had him when she and then husband Ted Jorgensson were teenagers in New Mexico. They divorced and she later married her husband Miguel Mike Bezos and welcomed children Mark and Christina. Miguel also legally adopted Jeff who writes of his mother on Instagram after a long fight with Louisbody dementia. She passed away today surrounded by so many of us who loved her, her kids, grandkids, and my dad. I know she felt our love in those final moments. We were all so lucky to be in her life. I hold her safe in my heart forever. The Bezos Scholars program also shares news of Jackie’s passing on the platform with Jeff’s wife, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, showing support for her husband by sharing the organization’s post to her own Instagram story with a broken heart emoji.
