This is a genius way salesmen in Egypt get you to buy their snacks. First, they lay down food in the seat next to you for the entire bus ride using a psychological trick called passive temptation, where over time you’ll want the food more and more as it’s in your visual range. And without having to beg you, they let your brain do the work, checking for any missing snacks and eventually making the sale.

See the problem with this is that they left it there, there's no sign saying you have to pay or anything. So one could reasonably argue that the item was abandoned and therefore free.
