This makes me so happy because of who Sydney Sweeney is but also because she has been heartily championed by Marina Hyde on the ‘The rest is entertainment’ podcast as some new wave of superstar. Good for Sydney and Marina to be forced to reflect on whether their white, conservative, wealthy truths are actually representative of how the larger population/culture feels.

i saw it and you know how you can see an actor “acting,” like you’re watching their mind work to get those cues and dialogue out? that was sweeney in this movie. her character as a stammer and you could see her very visibly trying her best to get those stammer cues out and it’s just so fucking distracting. honestly halsey gave a much better performance.
Mighta done better if it was advertised at all and they didn’t just do the Eugenics ad with American Eagle. Still happy though, trash like Sydney Sweeney deserves it.

It was never not gonna bomb. It was a defacto theatrical release before throwing it to PVOD and digital. The bigger story is what happens with her awards movie Christy at TIFF
I’m so over her. Politics aside, she just gives type-cast vibes that really gets old and tend to be a career ender…..oh well, at least there’s always ________ as a backup.
