She hasn’t said much beyond letting her football do the talking, but I’m genuinely heartbroken for her. Being a teenage girl is hard enough, and the internet’s mouth-breathers took what should’ve been the most exciting day of her life and turned it into an excuse to bully her over something completely out of her control.
What does bullying a child do for these vile people? It really feels like we’re regressing as a society.

I will never judge someone for acne.
Sometimes it can just be incredibly stubborn, especially at that age.
Anyone who is bullying her is a total loser.

She’s so cute. People are very mean.

They should have left the posts as they were and turned off comments and not mentioned it again. Now it’s all over the news thanks to the Streisand effect. Sad for this girl.

The only requirement to play any sport should be being good at it. If you are more interested in what a player looks like than how they can play, then you aren’t interested in sport at all.
I don’t understand the expectation for athletes, tennis or football players to look like models. They are all beautiful and have beauty in their individualism.

As someone who had stubborn acne as a kid and it still flares up now 10+ years later, I feel like crying for her. No one should have to endure those awful comments, but especially not a teenager. I hope she’s got a strong support system and I hope she does so well with her soccer

This really sucks for her to get that hate. She’s a star, I hope she knows that.

Why are people so cruel?

The amount of champions league dickheads in this world who would do this is not a shock unfortunately.
I’d love to think the sport I love is evolving and growing up but between grown men bullying a 16 year old, some fans disrupting a minute’s silence for Andre Silva and Diogo Jota and a man in a wheelchair making a vigorous attempt to racially abuse a black player, I can’t say it with a straight face.
All of the events I described have all happened in the space of 7 days.
I know there are medications for that kind of acne but given the horror stories I’ve read before about what it can do, let alone to a 16 year old who wants to play football, she might have other priorities that some scumbags simply cannot fathom.
I hope she has a great season.

Shes got such a cute smile and kind eyes, I was immediately taken with how adorable she was. Yes she has acne but what teen that age doesn’t? Adults suck

I hope she has some great friends and family who stick up for her. The world is nasty

It’s always misogyny. To some men, a women’s accomplishment are only worth anything if she looks fckable enough. And yes, these men do not care about the fact that she is *sixteen*.
