Christine Baranski Slams Lauren Sánchez Bezos, Katy Perry Space Trip | E! News

Sending women into a spaceship for what? So they can, you know, do their makeup. What the? Actress Christine Baransky goes off on Gail King and Katie Perry over their recent trip to space. During an August 12th panel for her HBO series, The Gilded Age, the star doesn’t hold back when talking wealth disparity, a concept explored in the drama series, saying she thinks the show has a lot of real life inspiration to draw from. The actress highlights the recent Blue Origin all female space flight, which included Katie Perry, Gail King, and Jeff Bezos’s now wife, Lauren Sanchez. The trip, funded by Bezos’s private space company, lasted 11 minutes and was criticized by many for not having a scientific purpose. A critique Christine echoes. I think, you know, one of the reasons I’d love this show to continue is because I think there is such an exploration to be done in terms of the corruption that goes on, the buying of government influence, which is happening now, excuse me, and the, you know, grotesque displays of wealth sending women into a spaceship for what? So they can, you know, do their makeup. What the [Applause] Don’t get me started. I’m going. Gail has previously spoken out against the criticism the crew received for the space flight, telling Entertainment Tonight of the backlash. I’m very disappointed and very saddened by it. And I also say this, what it’s doing to inspire other women and young girls, please don’t ignore that. She argued that the mission was meant to discover if the rocket would be able to make the planet cleaner, adding space is not an eitheror. It’s a both and. And because you do something in space doesn’t mean you’re taking anything away from Earth. [Music]

    1. A female scientist on that rocket would have been more inspiring to little girls. it takes a huge amount of resources in these missions. It should never be wasted.

    2. All the money they put into puffing up their egos could have been used for something sooo much better, but don't ask them to help with anything that might benefit anyone but themselves.

    3. Christine Baranski is one smart intelligent woman. I love that she gave it straight no 💩s given❤❤. I never understood the whole ordeal with these women going into space for 10 min. Just a disaster PR.

    4. Lol yes go off Christine😂 as if i couldn't love this woman more already❤ it was literally just a vanity amusement park ride for rich people than actual space exploration & the fact they had the audacity called themselves "astronauts" still irritates me til this day

    5. OMG did you see the woman before Bezos she is becoming a character of every celeb that went to far with Plastic surgery. those vacuum cleaner sucked lips and swollen punched cheekbones.

    6. There’s no young girl in America that’s looking up to Oprah’s wife Gayle and the Voltron crew, thinking that they’re an inspiration to work for NASA or whoever to go up in space. At least I hope not. 😅🎉

    7. I will give $1 million to the first person that can explain to me how that space trip with those women was supposed to find a way for a cleaner environment in anyway. That comment alone is dumber than the astronaut comment. How are people not talking about that?

    8. I love Christine I totally agree with her!! Space travel is and has always been a huge waste of time and money!! Why dont we put that money towards helping the people of earth?!

    9. I love a woman who says it like it is and doesn’t sugar coat it! Let’s inspire girls with woman who actually got educated, fought for and earned their place in life. Not some bimbo’s who’s b00bs are bigger than their brains.

    10. great idea a series on wealth disparity. I wouldn't have thought of that. I hope one day to be writing more movie & show ideas instead of poetry rage to corrupt government
