Kelly Clarkson cries mid-concert in video taken days before ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s death

[Applause] Okay. Compartmentalization. Um, well, this segue is pretty perfect. Um, so I I love you, too. [Applause] This next song, um, I’ve never rewritten a song more, and I probably never will. Um I wrote this song with a lot of hope, okay, and um projection for happiness and and better than what was happening. And um and then um well, life set in. And um I had to change the lyrics. Everybody was like, “Wait, why aren’t you singing this song?” And I was like, “Have you heard the lyrics? It’s fun.” Um embarrassing. Um, and then I I ended up changing it and doing it one time like two years ago when we did a residency here and and then I was like, you know what, that sounded a little angry. So, I just, you know, I wanted to sound how it feels now. I’m 43, done some therapy, and um, and I changed I changed the lyrics now. And this is I feel like it’s perfect now. I promise. I swear to God, I’m not going to change it. Okay. Um, but this this new lyric, it just represents kind of a I don’t know. I feel like we we grow up, right? And this is like the more grownup version of it. Um, and my favorite lyric and and why is because it’s so important to know this is I think we’re taught whenever we’re a kid, I’m really trying to [Music] We love you. Sorry. We love you. Kelly Clarkson got visibly emotional onstage just days before her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, tragically died following a private battle with cancer.

Page Six exclusively reported over the weekend that the “American Idol” alum had been fighting back tears during her performance in Las Vegas on July 26.

Now, a resurfaced video — originally shared via TikTok last month — shows Clarkson wiping away tears as she introduced “Piece by Piece” in Sin City. At one point, the 43-year-old singer joked to her Las Vegas Studio Session residency attendees about the magic of “compartmentalization.”
