      I’m calling it, Gavin Newsom setting himself up to have a go at the presidency.

      Democrats have no major figures right now with a media presence to be a strong ballot winner. Tim Walz is there, but they may be wary of a retry. Kamala is out. There’s the Buttigiegs, AOCs, but none of them would be ready for the presidency yet.

      I also suspect he’s insulated from the Epstein files and the Democrats know it – we’re not 100% sure of who’s on that list but its a political nuke if it ever leaks and he hasnt been floated at all (although the Clintons have been).

      If its a fight against JD Vance (provided Trump doesn’t seek a third term) Newsom is a good pick as an establishment candidate. He’s trying his best to be seen as someone who can agitate and aggravate just like Trump does for a media personality, which remains to be seen if that oil sticks to the canvas.

      Personally I really do believe in Walz and in giving him a second shot as the front-run candidate with AOC or another progressive in tow for vice, Walz has far more centre-ground grip than he’s given credit for in earning Republican interest but it was suppressed by a misogynistic electorate who just won’t vote a woman it seems; the old “I like Walz but not Kamala” from Republicans/self-declared ‘libertarians’ was brutal for the 2024 election imo.

      However, this is the present-day Democrats we’re talking about and they’ve recently been spooked by Trump’s accelerationism that they want “safe” candidates.
      Overall, will be following Newsom’s media with interest.

      Gavin Newsome treats unhoused people hideously and inhumanely in his state and has recently said it’s “deeply unfair” for trans women to compete in women’s sports. Pass.
