Terence Stamp, Superman Actor, Dead at 87

    Hollywood is mourning the loss of Terrence Stamp. The actor who’s known for his role as villain General Zod in the Superman films has died on August 17th at the age of 87 years old. His family shares the news to Reuters in a statement that reads, “He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer, that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come. We ask for privacy at this sad time.” There are no further details on his passing. Born in London in 1938, Stamp attended Weber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art before he starred in onstage plays such as Dracula and Alfie. He rose to fame in the 60s with his on-screen debut in the 1962 film Billy Bud, earning a Golden Globe for new star of the year in an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor. And just over 15 years later, Stamp went on to star in Superman and Superman 2 as the villain General Zod. You alone will condemn us if you wish, and you alone will be held responsible by me. His other credits include 1994’s The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, 2003’s Haunted Mansion, 2008’s Valkyrie, and 2021’s Last Night in Soho. Stamp was 87 years old.
