Richard Gere on Netanyahu & the genocide in Gaza: “If he wasn’t the Prime Minister, he’d be in jail for corruption. To keep himself out of jail, he’s kept this war going & killed tens of thousands of people. There was no need. Innocent people, innocent women & children.”

Hundreds of thousands. If it wasn’t Netanyahu, it would be somebody else, but he’s definitely self-interested. Compared to his cabinet, he’s a moderate.

      I like the vibe, though.

Trump is trying to do the same thing without the generational indoctrination of Zionism that Israel has conducted for decades.

    3. Admire him for speaking out,but it goes far beyond netenyahu. The overwhelming majority of Israelis agree with what they are doing to the Palestinians in Gaza. The root cause of this has and will always be the settler colonial ideology of Zionism. This is something the founder and its early promoters openly talked about, spoke out,and they never made a secret of it.

I’m not sure why people seem obsessed with the framing of this as just a way to stay out of prison. It’s clearly at least partially ideological. It’s also way beyond just a “war”, or even something that’s just a Netanyahu effort. Perhaps pinning it as just an effort to avoid jail helps them ignore the reality that its got the backing of the majority of the government and people, and there’s no going back.
