Target has truly become a miserable shopping expirience.

I don’t want to downplay the boycott efforts (especially by marginalized people), but this runs deeper than their decision to cowardly lick the boot of fascists.

[Angela Collier has a great video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPVSj9rcK-E) about the topic and how the stores foolishly navigated post-2020. The TL;DR is that they wanted to save money by keeping the skeleton crews from when lockdown mandates were in place (lol at how “strong” those were), which made the stores become rundown and service slow down.

Not to mention the god awful redesigns that changed the layouts to stores to emulate department stores at malls from the 90’s (great job imitating another failed business model!).

Many retail chains are ghastly, depressing experiences now. Go to any CVS and it’s like walking into a funeral. Target is no exception in my experience. Unpacked inventory is all around, shelves are half-empty, and the layout is confusing and there are hardly any employees around. The suits continue to fuck things up, and do nothing to incentivize an in-store experience.

Also, yeah, go woke or go broke you fucking morons

Sales dropped because they took out DEI & a small percentage has to do with tariffs. Anyone saying otherwise isn’t looking closely at their sales month to month especially compared to other companies like Costco who stood their ground.

I have never spent so much at Costco as I have done this year so far.šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚ I have a problem.šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

      >Target reported a 21% drop in net income in second quarter of this year

      >The company has seen flat or declining comparable sales in eight out of the past 10 quarters including the latest period.

    4. People have turned HARD against Target. One of my nieces used to call it her ā€œhappy place,ā€ and now she goes out of her way to find the things she used to buy there at other places. My boss shopped for just about everything for her kids there, but has she completely stopped, and now she braves the Costco crowds instead.

My niece and my boss are in what is probably Target’s favorite demographic: white women with social influence and extra money to spend. It’s a real shame that Target alienated their best customers with their choices.

    5. Down 20% in the second quarter of this year.

They’re going to say it’s related to COVID and tariffs and consumer confidence issues.

But it’s more than that; they screwed up and the consumer left. They don’t want us to recognize our power in this situation. ELF should be watching closely.

And this guy will now be on the BOE and the COO will replace him as CEO, so it’s just rearranging deck chairs at this point.

I know people liked to shop at Target but I always found them to be so overpriced. They coasted on their color coordinated layout and store organization.

All in all, I occasionally shopped there but haven’t since this business started.

This makes me so happy. This should teach companies not to cynically use social movements to make money.

    8. Good!! Scaling back DEI initiatives was the straw for me. I’ve gone out of my way to get things at places other than Target since then.

    9. Cutting Target and Amazon out of my life was a bit challenging but I’m glad I did. These companies showed they don’t actually care about their customers.

Companies are way too comfortable using our basic human rights as marketing tools. At least we need to show them just cause they got a corrupt dictator in their pocket does not make them immune to consequences of their action. Little too late however, they ruined the Target vibe permanently by cowering to fascism.

When your entire brand was, “We know you could shop at Walmart but we’ve got vibes” I’m not sure why they ever though this retreat was a good idea.

    12. That’s right, not even Saylor Twift’s gazillion Target-exclusive vinyls can keep them in the black.

That’s how you know you’re officially cooked

Not going back until they apologize to the LGTBQ community and denounce Trump. This brings me no pleasure to say this as I am from Minnesota.

If they never do that, well, I guess I didn’t need any shit from there anyways.
