Meghan Markle is said to have employed a genius tactic before her relationship with Prince Harry was announced. The couple met in July 2016 and made their relationship public later that year.

According to royal author Tom Bower, nothing was more important to Meghan than her relationship with the royal, so she made a key change to her Wikipedia page. Writing in his 2022 book ‘Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors’, he said: “In Meghan Markle’s life, little happened by chance. Beyond the empathetic smile was a woman who disrupted spontaneity and liked to control every aspect of her life.”

He then added: “In late September 2016, nothing was more important than her relationship with Harry.”

Discussing her Wikipedia page, he claimed Meghan made an “adjustment” in October 2016, with the page purged of any reference to her work on Deal or No Deal and her time as a model.

The author revealed that a section headed “humanitarian work” was inserted in its place, which referenced her speech at a United Nations women’s event in New York, among other achievements.

Mr Bower then wrote about how Meghan planned to “out” her relationship with Harry via an Instagram post of her “secret Halloween date. “Discussing the Halloween party that the couple attended with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, he added: “Most at the party were in no doubt that Meghan was ‘outing’ Harry.

“For her own good reasons she wanted the relationship to be publicised. In media hype, some would call it the “Greatest Story since the Abdication”.”

Meghan and Harry later wed in May 2018, before welcoming their first child – their son Archie – the following year.

In January 2020, the couple annouced their plans to depart from royal life – with them soon moving to America with Archie.

Now residing in Montecito, California, the pair have since welcomed their daughter, four-year-old Lilibet.
