Prince Harry’s decision to step down as a senior working Royal was reportedly triggered by a particular incident involving Prince George, which served as a “wake-up call” for the Duke, according to a Royal expert.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their intention to step back from the Firm in January 2020, leaving people worldwide in shock.
Just days prior, Buckingham Palace had released a new photograph featuring the late Queen Elizabeth, King Charles, Prince William, and six year old Prince George. This followed Prince Harry’s “painful” secret letter that delivered a “gut punch” to his family.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton suggests that the Sussexes felt the Firm was “plotting against them.”
after the palace unveiled the significant image representing the monarchy’s future, reports the Mirror US.
In his book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, Morton wrote: “The royal couple suspected that the entire institution was conspiring against them. As they saw it, the evidence was all around them.
“The unspoken code was straightforward: the future of the monarchy was assured, with or without Meghan and Harry.”
The author claimed that Harry’s “fears were later confirmed” when he cancelled a meeting with the late Queen to discuss his Royal future, as reported by the Express.
He wrote: “This sense that, despite their international popularity, they were low down the Royal totem pole was confirmed when Harry arranged to meet the Queen for a grandson-to-grandmother chat in early January.
“At the last minute, the meeting was postponed.
“Charles suspected classic internal politics; his family was concerned that anything the Queen agreed to during informal conversations would be used by Harry as a negotiating tactic.”
In January 2020, Harry and Meghan revealed their intention to step away from the Royal Family, releasing a statement which read: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty the Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”
Just days after the notorious Sandringham Summit, the couple struck a mutual understanding with the royals to surrender their senior working positions and avoid exploiting their titles for commercial purposes going forward.
This follows reports that King Charles was moved to tears after accidentally hearing Prince William’s private conversation.
