“Social media was just really becoming a big thing after I started on ‘Game of Thrones,’ so I got a couple of years of peace and quiet and then I had to adjust. It had such a profound impact on my mental health, like more than I could tell you. It almost destroyed me on numerous occasions.” said Turner, who was only 13 years old when she debuted as Sansa Stark on “Game of Thrones.”

“I look at the kids who are about to be in the new ‘Harry Potter’ and I just want to give them a hug and say, ‘Look, it’s going to be okay but don’t go anywhere near [social media],’” Turner added. “‘Stay friends with your home friends, keep living at home with your family, make sure your parents are your chaperones’ — it’s so important to have that grounding adjacent to the big, crazy stuff that you do.”

    1. I feel like it’s almost selfish to force this level of visibility on a bunch of kids

She’s not wrong, especially as a woman having the whole world talk shit about your looks seems impossibly difficult.

That is great advice for any upcoming child stars and I truly hope the new Harry Potter series bombs!

    4. I hate JKR for her awful transphobia but I do worry these children will face social media harassment over it. Kids can’t really make informed choices for themselves like the adults in the series can. I hope anyone who criticizes those taking part in the new series can recognize that and focus on the spineless adults and bigoted creator than these kids.

I hope the kids do zero promotion. Maybe they attend the premiere with their parents! But they don’t need to do talk shows, photo shoots, or interviews. Let the grown ups involved do the promotional work and let the kids just have fun in the bubble of making the thing and then let them go home!

    6. Many years ago I lived near a pretty well known director and his famous (not in the US) wife. I was talking to them one evening and he had cast some unknown girl in a pretty minor film he was directing and his wife just deadpanned, “Well, another life ruined.” And I’ve never forgotten that.
