      I’m gonna give him a pass and say he has to be very diplomatic at this time. Not saying he wouldn’t have a good view of Israel otherwise, but right now he needs all the allies he can take. He hasn’t gone to see Trump repeatedly because he enjoys the smell of used diapers, but rather because Ukraine needs a lot of support.

      But also, anyone with eyes could see the parallel between what Russia is doing to Ukraine and Israel to Palestine.

      Zelensky has to stay friends with as many countries as possible, sometimes warmongers are useful.

      Now I believe he’s always been in support of Israel, but even if he wasn’t, he can’t afford to lose any allies directly or indirectly

      No judgement here. Finland cooperated with Nazi Germany during WWII in order to keep our independence. When you’re in deep trouble, you take any help you can get.

      I hate to try and toe this line, but I guess I will…

      I hate this for what international diplomacy is. In a certain way the people saying “I’ll give him a pass” are right but it’s ridiculous to *not* say that it’s crass and selfish of him too. That’s what war is. It sucks. That *should* be why people fear going to war – because it makes us selfish and miserable people.

      Many similar crimes have been committed by Russia and Israel. I would hate to be in a position to pick one as an ally or face death.

      Zelensky and Ukraine are so fucked right now. He’s in pure survival mode and I don’t blame him for doing what he needs to do for arms and ammo.

      This seems like a bit of a disingenuous post. It’s in response to a letter Herzog originally posted celebrating the Ukraine’s Independence Day. Leaders around the world posted these and Zelenskyy responded to all of them. I’ve barely scrolled (I resent even having to visit X) and so far I’ve found responses to Bahrain, Libya, Yemen (all expressing similar sentiments in regard to strengthening ties) and the UN. It’s not a random shoutout about how much he loves Israel.

      There’s sufficient argument by PPs in regard to the Ukraine also being oppressed and in need of all the support they can get, so I don’t need to add to that conversation – but wanted to add the context so others don’t need to subject themselves to X too. This isn’t the oppression Olympics.

      Free Palestine.

      Love that when Ukraine supports Israel it’s just “geopolitics”, but when any developing country supports Russia it’s a sign of how morally bankrupt they are and they should be cut off from any trade or international alliance.

      I’m rooting for Ukraine cause I’m against illegal invasion and left theft regardless of who it happens to, but this is the same country that went “Um Mr USA, we were some of the first ones to help you invade Iraq. Can you please help us this time around?” Reality can be so ironic.

      Btw Ukraine supported Israel even before Russia started pulling this shit. Just like the rest of the West. They’re not just doing this because of Russia.
