How Harry Potter Director Chris Columbus Really Feels About HBO Series | E! News

Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is reacting to the newest take on the Wizarding Worlds franchise after HBO released pictures of the cast for their Harry Potter television series. The Hollywood director is sharing his honest opinion on the upcoming project. Seeing on the August 27th episode of the Rest is Entertainment podcast per deadline, “I’m seeing these photographs online, part of me was like, what’s the point? I thought everything was going to be different, but it’s more of the same. It’s all going to be the same. Chris, who directed the first three films based on JK Rowling’s popular book series, insists his criticism of the show isn’t coming from a place of envy, explaining, “Jalous? No, it’s time to move on. I’ve always had issues with the idea franchise. I feel like I’ve done it. I’m really proud of those films, the first three that I was involved with, and I’m moving on.” However, the 66-year-old, who’s also directed blockbusters such as Mrs. Doubtfire and Home Alone, has previously revealed one thing he is excited about for the upcoming series, telling Variety earlier this month, “The great thing about it is that with the first and second and third book, we wanted to do it all. We wanted to bring all of that onto the screen and we didn’t have the opportunity. I’m sure it’ll be in the HBO series.” So for me, it’s an opportunity to bring all those scenes to life. [Music]
