Recho Omondi, better known for her podcast “The Cutting Room Floor”, has gone viral for offering a job for 55k a year, in NY, no benefits, 5 days in office. Says that the job is for people who want to hustle.

also, a woman came foward and said that she applied even tho she was overqualified cause she wanted a fun job and didnt need the money, she didnt get the job

    2. I’m not American, but I assume in this case no benefits means ‘no healthcare’ right?

The way she’s speaking about this role as if it would be a huge honor to work there.. please. As a recruiter, I can tell you nobody cares what the job is, the salary is most important. As it should be in this economy

These millennials need to learn that hustle culture is dead. We were the only idiots that fell for girlbossing, Gen Z ain’t doing all that. They got better things to discuss with their therapist.

So one person to do what would literally be three separate jobs in any other studio/for any other show for below a living wage. This woman needs help, but not the kind that she thinks.

    6. 9:30am to 6pm is not full-time, that’s full-time plus overtime??
“Studio Coordinator” but also be my personal assistant? Noooope

Needing an immediate hire is usually a bad sign on its own.

But the language of “its not a glamorous wage” is used to make you feel guilty for wanting to be paid fairly. That mixed w the look on her face when she said it pissed me off lol.

    8. Major ick. Love the CRF but her attitude is trash. Yeah, people want healthcare, go figure. If you don’t have the money to provide for your employees idk sis maybe you need to hustle harder.

Oh, and the bs ‘scarcity marketing’  strategy and the fact that the person unlucky enough to be hired will be juggling multiple roles, like lol eyeroll.

This is more of that grind culture crap. 9:30 to 6 in person and 24/7 is what you’re signing up for. Cause she’s super disorganized.

Kim Kardashian “nobody wants to work anymore” exploitation bullshit.

Three jobs for the price of one.

I’m not saying it’s right, but this is 100% what every entry-level job in fashion is like. When I started 10 years ago I was making $35k too, no benefits. It wasn’t for me so I left, but for people who want to be in this world, that is the sacrifice. It’s a brutal business with a lot of effort for little reward, and at least she didn’t sugarcoat it. If it’s not your thing, don’t apply.

I noticed a long time ago that she followed Candace Owens on IG. She got called out for it during this debacle and unfollowed finally…

    12. A “roommate” wage is fine. I was working in fashion in NYC from 2016-2019 making $65k/year and had to have a roommate. But not offering benefits in this economy as we descend into fascism? That’s gross. She should know better as someone who’s worked and interviews people in an industry that is famous for exploitation.

She also just interviewed Gwenyth Paltrow, so my side eyeing is now a full on eye roll.

    13. Simple plan. Get hired. Seduce her partner. Usurp her life and all relationships. Post TikTok looking for assistant to work for 44K a year with no benefits.

Fun fact: New York’s minimum salary for exempt employees is $66,300 in NYC and surrounding areas.

The awful thing is, someone WILL take this job. In this economy, especially in the super competitive nyc job market, I feel like a lot of people can’t afford to put their dignity over an opportunity like this which suuuucks

    16. Original-Strain on

Three job roles means that figure better be tripled. The audacity, we don’t claim this boomer-adjacent millennial

Now I can vent about her inane interview with Morgan Stewart McGraw, aka Dr. Phil’s daughter-in-law. Blegh.

    18. Why would I care where the minuscule salary is coming from? Don’t hire ppl if u can’t pay a humane living wage. The glamorization of hustle culture is insane! Being like.. well I never took Ubers and had to eat ramen so you should too is sickening

    19. WhenImTryingToHide on

WTF. She needs to hire like 3 people, and 55K in NY, for a full time position seems a little….tight
