Coco Gauff Details “Tough” US Open Win Against Ajla Tomljanovic | E! News
Koko Goff is reflecting on her US Open win after defeating unseated player Isa Tamanovich in the first round of the 2025 US Open match. The 21-year-old admits during an encore interview that the Australian tennis pro did give her a run for her money. Yeah, it was a tough match. I had chances for it to be straight sets, but Isa was tough. I felt like she was getting so many balls back and I was trying to push her back and she was standing on top of the baseline. And after finding herself down 0 and2 at the onset of the match, Koko was energized by the New York City crowd and eventually claimed the first set at six and four. But after losing the second in a tiebreak, the tennis pro eventually found her footing and won the match with a seven and five showing in the third set. I mean, I had so many chances, so I was like, eventually they’re going to come. I had chances to close out in two. I had chances to go up double break so many times. Um, so yeah, I was just like eventually one of these are going to go my way um and end up happening in in that game. And as she heads into her second round match up with Croatia’s Donna Beckage, Koko knows she has the support of a nation and a city behind her. As she told E-News in an exclusive interview, New York is always an event I do well in. Just being an American, and to have won it two years ago, the energy in the city in the US Open is like no other. I’m super excited. [Music]
