Koko Goff is opening up about her inspiration, Simone Biles. The tennis player recently won a tough three set match against Donna Veage, advancing to the third round of the US Open. And Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was in the audience cheering her on. Speaking on what Simone’s support means for her, Koko says, “Yeah, I mean, she’s the greatest one of the greatest athletes. It’s her and Serena for me on my Mount Rushmore of athletes. And yeah, I think her everything that she went through with on the mental side of things with the sport something that I followed closely and tried to learn from. So to see her there tonight kind of gave me a reminder that I needed and I got I was lucky to actually just came from talking to her. So I was able to tell her that in person. And immediately after her win, Koko also gave some words of appreciation to the legendary athlete, saying, “She helped me pull it out. I was just thinking like if she can, you know, go on a 6- in beam and do that with all the pressures of the world, then I can hit the ball in this 75. I don’t know how big this court is. Um, and yeah, it brought me a little bit of calm, um, just knowing her story with all the things she went through mentally. So, um, she’s inspiration, surely. And, you know, her presence definitely did help me today. You’re awesome. We appreciate the time. Congratulations. Best of luck moving forward. Cook the ball. [Music]
