Meghan Markle has shared that her children mimic their father Prince Harry’s British accent when saying certain words, despite being raised in California.
The 44-year-old former actress, who lives in Montecito with Harry, 40, and their kids Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, revealed the detail during the second season of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which debuted on August 26.
On the show, Meghan noted, “Some of the words that they still say with a British accent. So they’ll say, ‘Ze-bra,’ and what else do they say? They have these little moments where it comes out. They have very American accents, but they say words that are just like him, and I think it’s adorable. Zebra is a good one.”

The comment mirrors remarks she made earlier this year on The Drew Barrymore Show. When Drew inquired about what characteristics in her children reminded her of Harry, Meghan responded, “Oh, some of the words that they still say with a British accent. So they’ll say, ‘Ze-bra’ … I think it’s adorable.”

In her Netflix series, Meghan also discussed differences in her own pronunciation compared to Harry’s. She mentioned, “My husband always laughs when I say ‘herbs’ – he’s like, ‘Herbs.’ He’s like, ‘You’re so American – ‘Erbs, ‘erbs.'”.
Meghan and Harry stepped away from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California, eventually settling down in the Santa Barbara neighborhood of Montecito. Lilibet was born there in 2021.
In a chat with People magazine, Meghan shared about their community life, “Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation.” She painted a picture of their family life that includes outings in their local area.

Meghan further revealed, “We go to a lot of dinners, and not just in people’s homes or private rooms; we just go into the restaurant. I really love that we can just have fun.”
The second season of With Love, Meghan, an eight-episode series, features guest appearances from Chrissy Teigen, Tan France, Jay Shetty, Radhi Devlukia, José Andrés, Clare Smyth, David Chan and Samin Nosrat, along with Meghan’s pals Jamie Kern Lima, Heather Dorak and Daniel Martin.
Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the extension of their creative partnership with Netflix through a multi-year first-look deal for film and television.
