being Italian I mostly followed the news about the people who sailed off from Genoa to Catania, to join the flotilla coming from Barcelona and Tunis. In the run-up some 260 tons of humanitarian aid were collected from the population, and [more than 40.000 people marched to the port](https://liguriaoggi.it/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/corteo-genova-global-sumud-flotilla.jpg) for a proper sendoff.
This is an excerpt from the speech of a representative from the Docker’s Union.
>“I want this to be crystal clear to everyone — absolutely *everyone*: Around mid-September these boats will reach the shores of Gaza, right into the critical zone.
>If we should lose contact with our boats, with our comrades, for even 20 minutes — *we will shut down all of Europe*. Together with our union, together with all dockworkers, together with the entire city of Genoa. From this region, 13–14 thousand containers a year leave for Israel. *Not a single nail will move.*
