This clip highlights the absurd contrast in perception of the CIA. A white American woman sees being recruited by the CIA as the most amazing thing in the world, while a Latina reacts very differently—her life, and her father’s, were actually impacted by the CIA.

An interesting Historical tidbit is that her dad was a body guard for the Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista.
The CIA trained his torturers amongst other things.

I like Kelly Clarkson, but like her excitement over the CIA is kind of like icky. The CIA is more staging coups, supporting dictators, violating human rights, and less Mission Impossible/Jason Bourne vibes. I get that she’s probably ignorant on the topic, but like, get more educated?
