Christine Brown Details “Devastating” Oxycodone Addiction | E! News

Christine Brown is detailing her private battle with drugs. The Sister Wife star shared she previously struggled with oxycodone addiction, writing in her new memoir, Sister Wife, a memoir of faith, family, and finding freedom, that it came about as she recovered from a 2016 surgery for her knee and torn ACL. She writes in part, quote, I had never taken oxycodone before. If something hurt, I took ibuprofen or aspirin. With the surgery, I had already fixed the problem and it hurt, so I took my meds. Christine, who is married to Cody Brown from 1994 to 2021, admitted that she enjoyed the feeling the drug gave her and began taking it while filming the TLC show with Cody and his other wives, Mary Brown, Janelle Brown, and Robin Brown, and their six children. She continues, quote, “It gave me the best high I ever felt. I was on top of the world, and I could accomplish everything. I lived about 2 minutes away from the interview set so I could take an oxycodone just before I left, drive to work before it hit, and then feel great on set. Oxy made the set fine. I could do anything on Oxy. Ultimately, Cody and Janelle’s daughter, Maddie, confronted Christine about her drug use. It was then that she confessed to Cody and their daughter Aspen, ultimately quitting cold turkey. Though the effects of the brief addiction lingered for months, telling people in an interview published September 2nd, quote, I just dealt with it privately because at the time it was absolutely devastating. I didn’t feel okay for so long. And I realized that with writing the book, that’s something I didn’t go back and revisit was the addiction to oxycodone. [Music]
