How Bruce Willis & Emma Heming Willis’ Relationship “Shifted” Amid Diagnosis
Emma Heming Willis is sharing insight into navigating Bruce Willis’s health journey. After the diehard star was diagnosed with frontal temporal dementia, his wife of 16 years gets candid about how their relationship has quote shifted. Telling People magazine in an interview published September 3rd, “Early on I was very isolated. I was too scared to say anything to anyone. I was in so much sadness and darkness for so long.” Because before Bruce received his FTD diagnosis, the couple thought he was just battling aphasia, which is a disorder that affects how you communicate, as well as the way you write and understand spoken and written language per the Mayo Clinic. And at the time, Emma had already become her husband’s main caregiver. Explaining, I think for most people, by the time you get to a diagnosis, you were already in that role. FTD doesn’t scream, it whispers. But as time went on, the 47-year-old started to realize that Bruce’s condition was worsening by the day. And upon receiving the 70-year-old updated diagnosis, Emma immediately felt herself beginning to soften. Though the feelings of isolation never faded, sharing, “There was a relief in understanding, oh, okay, this wasn’t my husband. It was that this disease was taking parts of his brain. It felt like what was happening was only happening to us.” But eventually, Emma, who shares kids Mabel and Evelyn with the actor, found comfort within a community of people who were experiencing similar struggles and made it her mission to increase awareness of the disease. Shifted is a nice way of putting it. She shifted him out the main house into the guest house. Look reality is she did not sign up for her taking care of him it was suppose to be vice versa. She did not take in account of his age when they married and that in sickness and in health part.
He would have done the same thing to her if the situation were reversed. Infact, he would have started dating someone else so please give that woman a break!
