Ryan Lochte Shares He’s Sober After Going to Rehab | E! News
I’m so happy right now and the big reason is that I’m 54 days sober. Ryan Lochi shares a personal update on his sobriety journey. The Olympian who has been open about his struggles with substance abuse in the past is sharing an update on his sobriety journey to his Instagram. In a video posted August 29th, Ryan revealed he completed a rehab program and is 54 days sober. I am so happy right now. And the big reason is that I’m 54 days sober. Yes. You know, after my accident in 2023, I fell into a really dark place. Depression, loneliness, and feeling like I was giving up in life and which led me down a road of substance abuse. With everything going on in my life, I needed to make a change, a drastic change. So, I checked myself into a Florida recovery center. The staff there has been incredible. They helped me realize that substance abuse isn’t a solution. It’s just a distraction that makes things worse. Following his rehab program, he admits he’s looking forward to continuing his journey. Now, I feel so much better. I’m thinking clearly. I’m motivated and I’m moving forward. And I wanted to share this with you guys, especially my fans, because you guys are so important to me. There’s a lot of stigma around um substance abuse. But in life, you’re going to get knocked down or hit a roadblock. There’s no ifands, buts around it. That’s just what happens. But it’s not how you get knocked down. It’s how you get up and keep moving forward and keep bettering yourself every day. putting one foot in front of another. So that is what I’m doing. I am bettering myself each day. So if anyone out there is struggling, please know you’re not alone in this. Um it happens to good people. His personal update comes months after his wife Kayla Reed confirmed she filed for divorce from Ryan after 7 years. Kayla, who shares three kids with the athlete, wrote in a June 4th Instagram post, “Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage. After deep prayer and reflection, I hold marriage in the highest regard. So, this has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life. I’ve been hesitant to share until I could do so from a place of healing, not from fresh, open wounds. [Music]
