Ethan Hawke Makes Rare Uma Thurman Breakup Comments | E! News

Ethan Hawk is making rare comments about his marriage to ex Uma Thurman. Two decades after the former couple finalized their divorce, the actor reflects on his public breakup from the Pulp Fiction star amid rumors of his infidelity. Telling GQ in an interview published September 1st, quote, “It’s humiliating. It’s almost humiliating even when they’re saying positive things.” Looking back at his five-year romance with Uma, whom he met on the set of 1997’s Gatka before tying the knot in 1998, he described the experience as falling in love at summer camp. He continues, quote, “Have you ever played spin the bottle? There’s a certain intimacy to the work that we do. Imaginative intimacy. It’s such a high. It feels dangerous and thrilling. It turns the temperature up in your life.” But he cautions, quote, “It doesn’t have any connection to the diness of real life. That’s the danger of it.” Ethan, who shares kids Maya and Levven ran with Uma, as well as Clementine Jane in Indiana with wife Ryan Hawk, has only shared glimpses into his divorce from the Killville actress over the years. For her part, following the breakup, Uma wasn’t interested in holding on to resentment. Telling Parade in 2006, she said, quote, “I cannot participate in anything critical about my children’s father.
