Since 2022, the King has made it his tradition to observe this solemn day in private reflection in Scotland, where his beloved mother drew her final breath.

The King and Queen have been enjoying their summer retreat at Balmoral and are anticipated to return there for the anniversary commemoration, which falls just two days following the upcoming Braemar Games.

This location holds profound meaning, as the King previously shared after Queen Elizabeth’s death: “My late mother especially treasured the time spent at Balmoral, and it was there, in the most beloved of places, where she chose to spend her final days.”, reports the UK Express reports.

Harry might make the journey to Scotland, though the King’s frequent southern travels for cancer treatments and official duties could alternatively provide a chance for the estranged father and son to meet somewhere closer to London. Ingrid Seward, a Royal biographer and author of My Mother and I, shared with Newsweek that while a reunion might be possible, the onus may fall on Harry to journey north.

She disclosed: “My opinion is that Harry desperately needs the stardust of meeting his father. He needs the glow of being the king’s son to shine on him.

“I think Harry would be very keen to meet his father and as a parent I would think Charles would probably like to see him. Because Charles isn’t seeing his grandchildren that must be really sad for him and if a meeting can be arranged without too much drama, he will see Harry,” she added.

Archie and Lilibet are not anticipated to accompany their father and are expected to stay in the US with their mother, Meghan Markle.

Both Archie and Lilibet are school-aged, and a rendezvous between the King and Harry would provide a unique chance for them to discuss family affairs away from the media glare.

Any potential trip to Balmoral, or another Royal residence in Scotland, would ultimately depend on an invitation from the monarch and coordination with his senior aides.

Royal writer Ingrid Seward suggested that staff might even want to be present during the meeting, noting: “I don’t think Charles would be against meeting him, but I don’t think he’ll meet him alone. I would think there would be an aide there.”
