Despite it happening nearly 20 years ago, everyone is talking about Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales (also known as Kate Middleton), splitting up briefly in 2007. Many claim it was a PR stunt, while others say it was a turning point in their relationship. However, one royal staff member said he saw the breakup heading in a different direction; in fact, he said he was convinced they wouldn’t get back together, and that Kate would’ve ended up with William’s brother, Prince Harry.

Grant Harrold, who was a butler to King Charles III, is coming out with a new book entitled The Royal Butler, and it seems that he spoke about the 2007 breakup as well to Us Weekly. Turns out, he might’ve shipped Harry and Kate together, saying, “They got on so well. I remember, when [Prince William] and [Kate] separated — and I think I said this — you know, [Prince Harry] and [Kate] got on so well that I even thought that maybe Harry and she would get together.”
“They were that close. They were best friends, and I wouldn’t have put it past Harry thinking, ‘Well, she’s a pretty girl, My brother didn’t want her. I’ll have her.’ That wouldn’t have surprised me at all. So it could have been Harry and Catherine easily, I would have thought. But, you know, thankfully [William] got her back,” he added. “What I’m trying to say is, that is how close they were.”

Obviously, that isn’t what happened since Kate and William got back together soon after, and married in 2011.
Kate and Harry were quite close until the infamous royal rift that happened after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, whom he married in 2018, left the royal family.
