Prince Harry is returning to the UK this week for the first time in five months but a reunion with his estranged family is up in the air, after the former working royal admitted “they will never forgive me” for a lot of things he has done.
The Duke of Sussex will show his support for BBC Children in Need and revisit a community recording studio in Nottingham when he is back on UK soil. He will also carry out a string of other engagements and make a hefty donation to the broadcaster’s charity.
However, it remains up in the air whether the duke, who is no longer speaks to his brother, the Prince of Wales, and has a troubled relationship with his father, the King, will stage a meeting with them during his stay.
The King, who is currently at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire, and the Queen have no public engagements planned for this week.
Harry and Charles last met face to face more than a year and a half ago when the duke made a transatlantic dash to see the monarch in February 2024 after hearing of his cancer diagnosis.

They spent just over 30 minutes together before the King left to recuperate in Sandringham.
The duke will be in London on Monday – the third anniversary of the late Queen’s death – for the annual WellChild Awards, a cause close to his heart as the charity’s long-standing patron, before travelling to Nottingham on Tuesday.
The duke appears to be focusing on his philanthropic ventures, while Meghan has been working on her lifestyle brand As Ever and promoting the recent launch of the second season of her critically savaged Netflix show.
The Duchess of Sussex is not expected to join him on the trip to the UK.

Back in July, senior aides to the King and the duke were pictured together in London in what appeared to be the first step in opening up communication between the two sides.
Harry, 40, levelled accusations at the King, Queen, William and Kate in his Oprah interview, Netflix documentary and memoir Spare.
He told the BBC in May that Charles will not speak to him because of his court battle over his security.
He said he does not know “how much longer my father has”.
He outlined his hopes for a “reconciliation” with his family but added: “Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things.”

Harry was last in the UK in April for a court hearing about his security arrangements, but lost his Court of Appeal challenge in May and said he “can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back”.
He failed in his appeal against the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office, over the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of protection when in the UK.
