‘Goonies’ alum Martha Plimpton reveals life-changing medical diagnosis: ‘Huge relief’

Why do you have ADHD on your necklace? This is a necklace designed by a good friend of mine, Sophie Black Charles, and this is her jewelry line, Mad Fine Jewelry. I’m also wearing a couple of her cocktail rings and her earrings. I’m a late diagnosis ADHD um person and like millions of others. And um it was actually a huge relief to be diagnosed. And so I’m kind of just spreading the word that I’m not ashamed and I’m finally, you know, I’m happy and free and glad to be uh sharing my my ADHD genius with the world. How old were you when you were diagnosed? Sorry. How old were you when you were diagnosed? Late diagnosis. I was about 15. Oh wow. And so did suddenly everything make sense in your life? Like oh that’s why I do that or that’s why Absolutely. Absolutely. So many little things fell into place and made sense, you know, that hadn’t made sense before. So, what are you are you taking medication or are you therap like how are you how do you I do all kinds of things to help me with my life like everybody should right. Um in the show you play the hard bitten uh do would you say your character’s heartbitten like you know? Oh well yeah I mean she’s she runs the the field office. in Philly in Delaware County and she’s a special agent in charge and she’s a woman. She’s worked really hard to get where she is and obviously that means she’s had to deal, you know, put up with some bull. So, I mean I think, you know, she’s a woman who’s learned how to sort of, you know, cut through the stories crap and uh take care of business. How much have you had to put up with? Oh, plenty. Plenty. But I it’s it’s it’s a it’s an element of her character that I can definitely relate to.

Martha Plimpton isn’t hiding her ADHD diagnosis.

“The Goonies” alum, 54, sported a necklace that read ADHD at the “Task” premiere on Thursday night and happily chatted to Page Six about her condition.
