Prince Harry will return to the UK for a rare visit to attend the WellChild awards ceremony in London. The Duke of Sussex will celebrate the achievements of seriously ill children and their families in his role as the charity’s patron, a position he has held for more than 15 years.
The visit falls exactly three years after Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral in Scotland on September 8, aged 96. The late Queen was the UK’s longest-serving monarch, having reigned for 70 years.
Speculation about royal reunion
There has been speculation about whether Harry will see his father King Charles, who is receiving ongoing cancer treatment and was in Scotland at the weekend. The visit follows recent images obtained by the Mail on Sunday showing senior aides to Charles and Harry during a meeting, reportedly representing a step towards restoring the relationship between the duke and the royal family.
Award ceremony details
During the event, Harry will make a speech and meet with seriously ill children and their families. He will present an award to an “inspirational child” aged between four and six years old.
